Distance running has been the most enjoyable part of my life since I was 13 years old. For nearly 50 years I have had experiences I could never have enjoyed without the sport in my life.
Running gave me the opportunity to experience the team environment in high school, attend college, learn how to build running shoes, travel internationally and coach successfully at the High School, College, National and International levels of competition.
During my High School coaching I helped 3 athletes win State titles in the Middle and Long distances. Among them they won the 880, Mile (3 times) and 2 mile and Cross Country in the 70s. One won a New England High School title in Cross Country (November 1978).
Collegiately, I had the opportunity to work with athletes at the University of New Hampshire, Wake Forest University and Dartmouth College. One runner, Randy Hall progressed from a 4:37 high school miler to run 4:02.73 and become an All American in 1990 at the University of New Hampshire. At one time, Randy held 4 school records in the Middle distances.
My involvement in Post Collegiate running produced a Silver medalist, Lynn Jennings, in 1986 World Cross Country Championships In Neuchatel Switzerland. One week later Ms. Jennings defeated World Champion Zola Budd in the famous Cinque Mulini (5 Mills) race in San Vittore-Olana, Italy. Other accomplishments for Ms. Jennings with my guidance were the National Cross Country Title (November1985) in Raleigh, North Carolina and a World Best 1st place Indoor 2 mile of 9:28.15 at the TAC Indoor Nationals in Madison Square Garden (Feb 1986).
Recently I have worked with 3 runners by email in their preparations for the Marathon. I am confident I have enough coaching experience at any distance from the 800 meter run to the Marathon and in Cross Country up to help anyone who would like to improve their running.
Running is the first thing in the morning I like to do. I hope I can help you feel the same way and reach your running goals.
